Preparing for your Surgery
- Do not take any medications after midnight before your surgery, unless specifically ordered by your doctor. Pain, blood pressure, seizure medications and long-acting may be taken, unless specifically otherwise. Allowed medications should be taken with a small sip of water. Do not eat or drink anything including water, candy, chewing gum or mints after midnight before your surgery
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before surgery and avoid heavy foods
- Shower or take a bath with antibacterial soap
- Please discuss any blood thinners or anticoagulant therapy with your doctor before your procedure. For example Aspirin, Plavix, Coumadin, Warfin, Fish Oil.
- Please be available by phone one to two days before your procedure to speak with a nurse from the surgery center regarding pre op instructions.
